Could Hollywood Save Itself By Bringing Back This?

Serials are everywhere. Who’s not binge watching something at any given moment on Netflix or Hulu? Millions are listening to serial podcasts, they're hot on TV, and they were once king at the box office.

So what’s the deal?

Westerns mastered the serial with cliff hangers at the end of the movie, hooking fans to come back the following week. It was a brilliant way to continuously make money.

Why couldn’t Hollywood do this again?

Let’s say the studio makes a 6 part movie. Each part is one hour long, and the theaters only charge half price to see it. Theaters would show the movie for one week only, then on Saturdays the next part is shown. They'd get 6 weeks out of this serial / movie.

Make movies fun again!

The final episode of the series could bring in more money than a huge Hollywood budgeted flick, but here’s the important part....

Wait a year to release it to Netflix, DVD or On Demand. If people want to see these serials, they’re going to have to go to the movies. No exceptions!

Get the right actors, directors, writers and Hollywood could reinvent itself by going back to what made movies special. The desire to keep coming back!
